Overview of the role The Vice President (VP) of Research will serve as the primary leader of The Trevor Project's growing portfolio of life-saving research on LGBTQ youth mental health. This VP will oversee and lead a current team of six with the expectation of hiring and expanding to ten by the end of the year and drive the agenda in order to expand the body of research on LGBTQ youth mental health and ensure its findings are communicated to clinicians, researchers, policy makers, the courts, and the general public. The VP of Research will serve as one of Trevorâs public spokespeople and will be one of the worldâs leading experts on both LGBTQ youth as well as suicide and mental health. They will help set the overall research strategy including Trevorâs ground-breaking annual National Survey on LGBTQ Youth Mental  Health and our upcoming International Survey on LGBTQ Youth Mental Health, oversee internal evaluation and polling initiatives, and lead peer-reviewed publications based on Trevorâs data. The VP of Research will also oversee The Trevor Projectâs research staff and serve as the primary liaison with any external partners. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading the Research team by ensuring that ethical guidelines are adhered to, impactful output is produced, research initiatives are properly staffed and timeframe goals are met. Long-term responsibilities include overseeing the performance and development of the Research team and working with leaders both within the Community team and across The Trevor Project to drive innovation so the organization can end LGBTQ youth suicide. The Vice President will need to be a strong, tactical manager as well an inspirational leader.Â
