The Opportunity:

We're looking for a Software Engineering Manager to join our Cloud Skills Engineering Team. You'll lead engineering practices, with a focus on continuous improvement & lean, and bring a systems thinking embodying a “you build it, you run it” approach to development and operations. While you'll possess strong technical engineering skills you will also demonstrate people leadership skills to coach, mentor and promote healthy teams.

Experience you’ll need:

• Overall experience of 12+ years in building software solutions, with 3 to 4 years leading and mentoring software teams that support and partner with international technology and product teams
• Experience building software solutions with NodeJS, TypeScript, ReactJS, Lambdas, DynamoDB, GraphQL and AWS services.
• Experience in serverless deployments and good DevOps practices in AWS
• Experience with other aspects of building software such as; software architecture, tooling, DevOps, incident management or threat modeling
• Experience driving process improvements to increase team effectiveness and quality; such as TDD, BDD, DDD or clean code and other design principles

What you’ll own:

• Lead and advocate Agile engineering practices, with a focus on continuous improvement, lean and systems thinking
• Be the technical leader for the team; help provide guidance to other developers, tackle sophisticated business logic problems, recommend new ways to utilise technologies incorporating context around scalability, cost, code maintenance etc.
• Works with the Product team to understand and analyze business requirements in order to design and implement technical solutions
• Lead backlog refinement and sprint planning, providing visibility of progress and blockers
• Ensure products are well designed, well built and have flexible architectures to meet business needs and future extensibility.
• Undertakes regular one-on-one meetings and conducts regular performance and development reviews.
• Assists in the recruitment to establish the teams.
