Director of Engineering

A YCombinator-backed B2B agri-tech startup, is seeking an experienced and motivated Director of Engineering to lead our engineering team. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in leadership, with a focus on defining processes, building teams, and working closely with founders to put together the tech roadmap.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the engineering team and drive the delivery of high-quality software products that meet business objectives.

• Define and implement engineering strategies, goals, and objectives that align with business priorities.

• Work closely with the founders to develop and execute the tech roadmap.

• Architect, design, and develop new features and maintain existing codebase.

• Ensure that the software is designed, developed, and delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

• Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and budgets.

• Hire, mentor, and manage engineering talent.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver new products and features that meet customer needs.

• Define and implement engineering processes that support the organization's growth and scalability.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on web and mobile applications. Proven experience in leading engineering teams and defining processes.

• Strong knowledge of Node.js in the backend and React in the frontend.

• Experience in microservices architecture and RESTful APIs.

• Strong knowledge of agile methodologies and software development best practices.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience in managing and delivering projects on time and within budget.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Passion for agriculture and sustainability.
