AI/ML Research Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. (London, UK)

Responsibilities
* Accelerate research through dedicated engineering support
* Optimise the performance of research prototypes and produce high-quality, reusable code and components
* Assist in the creation and maintenance of a cloud-based research lab that will enable rapid prototyping and experimentation with new AI/ML models
* Develop and maintain a research code library as an internal and external opensource offering with multiple contributors
* Increase our deployment velocity, including the process for transferring research code (models and data pipelines) into production.
* Gather, transform and analyse data of relevance to research
* Build and maintain data pipelines for analytics, model evaluation and training
* Contribute to architecture and software management discussions and tasks

Requirements
* Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field.
* Proven programming/scripting skills with multiple modern programming languages including Python, Java and similar.
* Excellent knowledge of data structures and algorithms and the latest developments in software engineering
* Demonstrated interest and experience in AI/ML
* Work-related experience in professional software development.
* Ability to thrive on ambiguity and multi-task in a fast-moving environment
* Excellent software design, problem solving and debugging skills.
* Knowledge of software engineering best practices, including DevOps, DataOps and MLOps
* Strong interpersonal skills; able to work independently as well as in a team

Desirable
* Experience working closely with data scientists and/or ML engineers in designing & building out auto-scaling ML systems.
* Experience of cloud engineering (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP)
* Experience building data pipelines for structured, semi-structured and unstructured data in production
* Experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or Pytorch.
* Experience with data labelling, validation, provenance and versioning.

* You have a strong commitment to development best practices and code reviews.
